As I've said before--READ the warranty info before buying.

WHO is allowed to install the engine if the warranty is to be in effect?
WHO pays to ship a defective engine back to the rebuilder?
WHO pays the shop to fix minor defects? Does the rebuilder pay a reasonable hourly charge, plus fluids 'n' filters, plus shop supplies? Or do they pay an hourly charge based on 1980 pricing, and YOU are stuck buying new fluids, filters, shop supplies, "Hazardous Materials Disposal Fee", etc?
WHO pays for the rental car when their engine is defective and it takes a week or more to replace the defective engine?

Thus the popularity of GM "crate engines" where warranty service is available at any GM dealer, and the warranty terms are...reasonable...if not perfect.

Buying a "rebuilt" from a local parts store at least gives you someone local to biitch at if need be.
