Possible Engine Swap

here is the situation. someone totaled my moms 01 yukon xl 2500. now it was a big stupid beast but the heart of it was the big block 496 that is a monster. im not sure but the engine may still be running im checking on that soon. my question is how hard would this engine be to swap into my 96 k1500 xcab with a stock 5.7 and would it be worth the trouble?

New engine mounts, whole harness, tranny, tranny mounts, etc

is this a complicated swap hopefully i can get the parts that dont need to be new from the wrecked yukon for litte to nothing and what about the work i cant do it myself

I think it would be a pretty complicated swap, not something you can do in a weekend, you need the whole engine and tranny plus new mounts and all.

i couldnt do it myself do you think it would be worth it taking into consideration the fact that i would have to go through a shop

You would be talking thousands when said and done.

i have no doubts about that but naturally i would rebuild it before putting in the truck so after all the work it would be a rebuilt 496 BB with the updated trans vs a 350 stock with 170k miles on it

Well you are talking atleast $5000 if not more. your truck is barely worth that in reality.

yeah but its looking like im going to be keeping for a while so im just wondering is it worth spending the extra $ to put it in

That is up to you man, if I had a lot of money to spend on a project truck then I would do it, but not if it is a DD. Would be a cool swap but is going to be alot of work and time and money.
