Hey guys, my '98 4.3l w/o AC, ~145k miles, is squeaking like a dead bird.

Whats the right procedure for this, if I'm getting parts should I just do all three - idlerpulley, tensioner and tensioner pulley?
Is there anything else that I can stab at while i'm behind the radiator?

You can take a wooden dowl and put it on the tensioner and bolt of the idler pulley to feel or hear for the cause of the issue, I would start with idler though first since it is cheapest. How old is your belt?

The belt was installed earlier this summer, ~7k miles on it.

I've got some poking around to do.

Went through the same thing with mine. Changed all the rotating stuff (ex. for the H2o pump) starting with the cheapest. Turned out to be the most expensive. The P.S. pump. Steering felt fine when driving it, but it squeeked & squeeled like a banshee.

Try the dressing first. My new belt (gates) started squallerin a month after I installed it. Shot a dab of dressing on it. No more squeak.
