It sounds like a faulty t case. Something is worn or broken. From what I'm reading something isn't happy in there and I can't pin point exactly what because there is so many.

I've read some things bout the 243 case and some say it could b a broken snap ring or bearing retainer ring that's letting one of the shafts move more than it should.

This is a long shot but. Look at the t case cross member look to see if it's broken. Because reverse would put a reversed torque then usual Maybe its mis aligned.
