I’m just curious and I’ve been beating around with some ideas and was wondering if you can run a supercharger on a tbi or does it need to be carbureted

Years ago, I had a stock low compression 1-ton TBI, 1.6 roller rockers, tri-y headers, Weiand 177, 454 TBI unit, MSD BTSM6 box and a rising rate FMU. I did a little tuning on the stock TBI ECM but it was blind to boost. The fuel injectors were the high pressure 61# marine injectors. They flow 61# @ 13 psi but something like 104# @ 30 psi. Under 10 psi of boost the FMU had fuel pressure cranked up to nearly 50 psi. Ran, drove and cruised stock until the throttle was open enough to make boost.
Some of the Vortec kits had the auxiliary injectors as well. There are several companies that still make a piggy back auxiliary fuel control capable of driving even 8 injectors. Saw a 454 SS setup years ago with the Edelbrock MPFI conversion system. The truck idled and drove on the stock TBI system, the massive Procharger was fed using Methanol through the Edelbrock MPFI injectors via a seperate tank. Very strong running truck. That truck had a HT502 running the MPFI conversion prior to gaining boost. Roughly a 1,000 hp truck with the supercharger and when not in boost drove like it was stock on the stock fuel system.Not a bad combo for back in the day!
I have a vortec brand kit that came with a supercharger for the TBI engines. It comes with a TBI spacer that’s got two fuel injectors in it. There is a vacuum line that sees boost and a little box that gives the supplemental fuel injectors a signal to spray more fuel as the boost raises. I just have it stored on the shelf but it’s pretty cool. I dont have the supercharger, but it would work well with a turbo as well.

Doing it this way, I connected the MAP to a a T of the manifolds boost port through a fitting with a small internal orifice, then a hose to a T. The straight through leg of the T had a check valve on the opposite side from the manifolds inlet port, the T leg went to the MAP. This eliminated a High MAP code going into boost by bleeding the boost off the MAP sensor. Under vacuum the MAP worked normally as the check valve sealed the bleed when the blower was not undet boost.
