Illumination of Auxiliary Climate Control switch on 99 Escalade

I have a 99 Escalade I'm bringing back to life. I would like to know if both overhead climate control switches attached to the headliner are supposed to fully illuminate at night when the parking lights are turned on. By fully illuminate, I mean the letters REAR AC CONTROL on the switch. My dial illuminates but not those words.
