With an NV4500 you gotta wind it out a little more than normal because of the huge gear splits. Each shift cuts the revs almost in half.

96(NV3500) is generally shifted at 2000, WOT at 45 in first and 70 in second, kinda useless to shift after that

Dually(NV4500) is 18-2500 depending on trailer or not, haven't got it much over 2500 though since I've owned it

If you stay in the throttle doesn't the shift lamp go out then come back on again later in the rpm range? First light for best economy, second for best power?

OK check it out today and yes it does go out and comes back on which accelerating hard while staying in a particular gear.

Now to go order the tach and find a owners manual for this beast.

I ignore my shift lights lol. I try not to run over 45-50 in 3rd. Then I can pretty much skip 5th. Depends on the load through really.
