So my 285's that are currently on my truck are worn and one of them wont hold air. I will be installing a lift in the spring and I dont want to spend/waste the money on a new set of 285's since I will be running a larger tire to go with the lift. So I have a good set of 245 75 r16 AT's that I can use to get me by till I put my lift on and my question is will this have any affect on my truck far as proformance or no noticeable difference?
My truck is a 350 auto with 3.73 gears

It will feel like you just put a set of 4.11 gears in it if not more.....mpg's may increase or decrease

agreed you'll have more torque, less rolling resistance and such but slightly higher rpms on the highway.

well let me clear that up, you'll FEEL like you have more torque, you'll be able to break the tires loose easier.

Just wondering how You liked the 285's . I'm running 315/70/17 and will be going to 285's soon. Was wondering about performance. I also have a 5.7 with 3:73 gears .

All depends on the aspect ratio of your 285s. Dropping to a 245 won't change a thing unless the overall height is different. 285 is just the width, second number is the height in %. If your tires are 285-65-16 then they will be identical to the 245-75-16. No change in shift points, RPM or speedo inaccuracies at all. Only difference is the 285s are 40mm wider than 245s at the section width.

i assume your running 285/75/16's which are a 33" tall tire so dropping to a 245/75/16 which is a 30" tire so it will make a difference

Ive had both sizes and with 245's my spedo read about 10mph fast, easier to get going from a stop, easier to break tires loose, better mpgs, oh and made it look like i was driving a 2wd ha hope that helps some
