Hey all, I just recently purchased a new idler pulley, belt and tensioner. I bought a cheap tensioner as funds were low just purchasing a new home and all. Question is how do I get it to relieve tension? I put my ratchet on the bolt and it just tightens the bolt and wont swing up. Is there another trick to this I'm missing?

Which bolt were you turning? The one on the housing? That's just to hold the tensioner to the bracket; if you keep trying to turn that one you can strip out the bracket or break it. Doesn't take much reefing to break that cast aluminum.

You turn the bolt on the pulley. It's left-hand thread so that it doesn't come loose while you're doing this.
