ok so i know there are alot of you who ask why go with this instead of the nv4500 i have a sm465 already and i love 4 speeds and here in wilkes by god county we dont use over drive, with a truck as heavy as these you dont go too fast round them turns or youll be lookin up to see the ground and down to see the sky, now i also have a ford dana 44 coil over sas that will go in the truck sooner or later and i have the transfer that mates to the sm465 but it is passenger side drop and the dana is driver side drop, good i use my stock transfer? and to mate my sm465 to my 88 tbi 350 (non vortec) so what about the flywheel and clutch and pedals and master and slave cylinder? could i use pedals off a gmt or should i go for square body chevy? same for the flywheel and all? thanks for the help guys

An SM465 with an NP205 came stock behind a 350 in my '90 K2500 so there are parts out there.

Did you buy the truck new? I've never heard of a 205 coming in a GMT-400. The Chevy NP205 is a passenger side drop transfercase.

No, used. I thought I saw somewhere that was the T-Case that came in those trucks but now I can't back it up. Guess I need to crawl under there and see what it really is.

Edit: I think this is what I read - http://www.advanceadapters.com/tech-vault/gm-sm465-general-information/

I guess it could be an NP208?

I didn't read everything, but I'm not seeing anything there to suggest that the 205 was ever offered in a GMT-400. Remember the Squarebodies were built though 91.

You can often re-clock transfercases, but I don't think you can go that far.

You just need a TBI manual flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate, the throw out bearing and fork from the sm465, a hydraulic slave for said sm465, and the pedals/clutch master from a gmt400. Im not too savvy on the transfer case mating tho, may have to wait til someone else chimes in on that one. You may can just change the input shaft in the transfer you have.
