6.5 TD Slave cylinder question

Hi everybody!!! Our manual conversion is going on, so now it's the dumb question time....
As you can see on the pic, the slave cylinder has this grey piece of plastic on it. Do i have to install it with or without? Sorry for the maybe dumb question but it's the first time i install a slave cylinder by myself.

If i remember correctly you install it with it on. And the first time you depress the pedal it will break. Again if I remember right it holds everything together until it is installed after that being bolted in and on the fork is what keeps it together.
