Dashcommand gives me a mpg number. But I don't know what values it uses so don't know how trustworthy it is.
Yeah, my EBL does too but, I was just thinking of a Q&D way of getting a ball park figure to shoot for, then log actual mileage...

According to my scan gauge 2 my 98'c2500 5.7l gets between 16.5 and 19.0 although I have had trip's that averaged 20.5.

Sounds like your gauge needs calibrated.
My Express van always got about that before I swapped the 1 ton 5.13 geared axle under it. Best tank when it was 4L85E swapped with 3.73s was 19.5 mpg. Still gets 17-18 mpg with the 383 turning 3,000 rpm @ 75 mph. I had several passes on a 2 lane road over 90 mph on that tank too.

OBDLink APP I use is within 1/10th of a MPG on my Express van. I think the 0411 gives actual fuel flow in the datastream that is fairly accurate provided your programmed flow rate is accurate.

Same APP is equally accurate on my 07 G35 Sedan.

It was perfectly accurate in both my 98' s10 and 01' 1500hd. all you do is plug it into the obd2 and it reads the ecm like a data stream. I had a hard time believing it but I drive a lot of mile's and don't seem to need to fuel up much.
