I wouldn't think so because the Vortec operates at a MUCH higher PSI than the TBI's do.

Not the question... I need the higher PSI for the 5.3l. The question is does it physically fit the tank... effectively, are the fuel tanks the same between TBI and Vortec.

same tank just different sender and pump

Fantastic, Are the level senders compatible? I would assume I can retrofit my stock piece onto the vortec unit if I have to... may require a little creativity.

No the senders do no inerchange. My Buddy was swapping gas tanks in his 99 Suburban and found a tbi tank for cheap and his sender wouldnt fit the hole.
Tbi has flange Vortec is a snap ring with a bigger hole.
