Looking at one, is the 6 lug 3/4 ton just a 1/2 ton with a SF rear end? Would it have the 700r4 rather than the 4L80E?

Same basic truck as a C1500 other than the most important part, the 9.5" 14 bolt semifloater rear axle; other goodies include bigger rear brakes, an extra leaf spring and heavier overload spring, the obvious 6 lug bolt pattern, and a few extra minor frame braces around the spring mounts. Not much. Still a 4L60E instead of 4L80E. (By the way 700R4 last year was 1992.)
