A 1989 GMC 3500 2wd 454 Dually with 74K miles. I am the third owner. This truck replaced my '91 stepside, which I purchased mainly to do work around the house with. I easily could have gotten by doing what I need to do with the stepside, but a bigger bed comes in handy in this case. (I could use a longbed s10 for what I need a truck for, but who dosen't want a dually??? )
I need this to move materials, haul junk/constuction debris, move motorcycles, ETC. Do I need a 1 ton ? certainly not. But I always wanted a dually.
This is what it looked like the day I picked it up...
Plans are to keep it looking like an '89, with the original grille headlights and interior. Everyone updates the grilles and headlights, and you can't tell the old ones from the later ones.
Small fire in the bed at one point.:dunno:
I think this goes here...
The best part...
Brought it home, and lost the condo on the back.
The scaffolding (running boards) and mud flaps hit the scrap pile.
Today I removed the cell phone repeaters that were attached to the doors.
Ouch...
The location of this hole makes damn near impossible to work from inside the door, but fortunatley, there has a hole in the inner stucture in the vicinty of it. So, I was able to work the tear out a little bit for the time being.
For some '95-up style mirrors.
When I purchased the truck, 3 of the 5 clearance marker lights on the tailgate were missing, and the wiring was broken at the joint where it goes from the tailgate to the bed. Today I replaced the wiring, installed LED markers, and wired it up a little different than just standard running/marker lights.
Lipstick on a pig.
A brand new Precision billet grille $40.00 shipped on eBay. clear corners I had originally planned to use on the workpig, and some satin black paint.
Found a guy on on Philadelphia Craigslist advertising 3 dually beds for sale...
Me:
What condition are the beds in?
Him:

Me:

Him:

Me:

Him: Each bed has one good fender. I 'll put a pair together for you.
Me:
How much???
Him:
$200
Me:

Him:
