Reading Paint on the Ring Gear

After a week of thinking, trial and error, and research... I found that the original chart I had been using was for a Hobbed 2-cut style ring gear. Differential ring gears are Milled 5-cut style rings gears, and require different solutions to the same patterns. Thank you everyone for your...

Reading Paint on the Ring Gear

On the trial and error side of things, do you (or anyone reading) happen to know, how many thousandths (shim thickness) will effect the paint marks? Or are they all different? My extra shims range from .010-.024". Let's say my current shim is .020", and my markings show that I need a thinner...

Reading Paint on the Ring Gear

Hello, I am running into an issue with reading the paint on my ring gear. The pinion doesn't really seem to want to remove the paint. The first time, I thought maybe there was still oil on the gears, so I took it apart and made sure to clean the ring and pinion real good. It got better but still...

Question About Rear Diff Pinion Nut Tolerances

Sounds good, I agree I think it'll be okay. I might hold off for just a day or so to see if anyone else has any input, but I think you're right. Thanks

Question About Rear Diff Pinion Nut Tolerances

i tried pouring oil through a port up top, while simultaneously spinning the pinion on a low drill speed. After that, it measured somewhat similar, if anything, it dropped to an even 20in-lbs. Also yes, I am using a beam style torque wrench.

Question About Rear Diff Pinion Nut Tolerances

I am currently rebuilding the rear end on my pickup, and I've gotten to the point of installing my pinion gear. I am using the old pinion/ring gears, but I replaced all of the bearings and races. From what I've found on GMT400 and multiple other websites, you should tighten the pinion nut until...

    Is it possible?

Welp turns out I'm a dummy and just didn't notice it the first time. The plug-in for the antenna is on top of the CDM, so all is well, I appreciate y'alls help. Thanks again!

    Is it possible?

I found a good deal on all three (CDM, head unit, and equalizer) and got it installed. Finally clicked that I had an aftermarket radio that someone had installed lol. I looked legit and I just didn't realize. It all works great! Thanks man. Only question I have is this: Where does the antenna...

    Is it possible?

I understand what you mean when you say that the replacement (upgraded) CDM might not work quite right (with the original radio and cassette player, but will produce sound. But, if you were to replace the radio, CDM, and cassette player to the equalizer setup, would the factory wiring still...

    Is it possible?

I found one diagram but it doesn't show the CDM or the cassette player. 88 Was the first year to switch from the square body.

    Is it possible?

Is it possible/easy to install a 3-piece radio/equalizer out of a 94 and out it into an 88 that has the regular radio with bass/treble adjustments. I can't find any schematics that include the radio, equalizer and CDM. I know the parts will interchange physically on the outside, just don't know...

Radio In and Out, Mostly Out

Hey y'all, I have an 88 Scottsdale w/ Regular Cab. So my radio usually doesn't work, and that was to be expected when I got it. However, when you play with the volume, it sounds like you're trying to tune into a station. Eventually, you can get something out of it but it fades in and out with...
