    best shocks for 6" lift?

Yup, I have Bilstiens on my truck. It rides very smooth and comfortable. Especially for a 3/4 ton with a 6" lift and 35" tires.

    Snow driving

My truck does quite well in the snow. The tires (Dick Cepek AT2s) surprised me at how well they grip the ice - much better than the BFG ATs I had on my other Suburban. The G80 makes a huge difference. Driving through a foot of snow isn't a problem, barely makes a difference, just need a...

What kind of mileage do you get?

My Suburban gets between 9 & 11 MPG. It runs a little rich, I think. Probably something to do with the HyperChip...

    Need grill help ASAP!

LMC truck has reproduction grills for about $150. partsgeek.com might be able to a little better on the prices. That's if you want to go with new or if the junk yard is wanting too much money...

The Offroad Wheel and Tire Thread

I'm running 315/75-16 tires on 12" wide wheels. There's no rubbing on flat surfaces, but I have evidence of rubbing...

    Tires?

Is the body lift cheaper than a 6" suspension lift? I know cranking the torsion bars is free... Are you going to use the stock rims? My rims are 12" wide and look really good with the tires. If you're running 7" wide rims you may run into more issues. I'm also running Dick Cepek FC IIs. I...

What did you do to your offroad truck today?

My winshield washer pump didn't work when I bought the truck. Now that we're supposed to have a snow storm tomorrow I decided to find out what's wrong. Of course I chose Christmas day when everything is closed, but that's ok. I found the pump under the left battery tray. In the process of...

Sidewall Puncture - Can it be fixed?

Thanks guys, I won't push the safety issue. I'll take it to a reputable tire shop and see what they say (I think I know the answer). I have the money for a new tire, I'd rather spend the money on other things though. Definetly not vandalisim. It was punctured on the inboard side of the tire...

Sidewall Puncture - Can it be fixed?

I've got Dick Cepek FCII 315/75-16 tires. One of my new tires (about 200 miles on it) was punctured on the sidewall. It's about half way between the tread and the rim, looks like I ran over a stick or something (I don't remember running over anything, came out the next morning to a flat tire)...

What did you do to your offroad truck today?

Been having A/C problems - not blowing very cold... Determined that the pump is weak and needs to be replaced. It's cool enough to keep somewhat comfortable in 104* heat while driving on the highway. The A/C repairs will come after I rebuild the steering and front suspension components...

    ENGO Winches

Chris - did you get the Engo winch yet? I was going to suggest you go to an electrical supply house and buy welding cable, it may have saved a few bucks. I'm sure that what you ordered is good stuff though.

External Spare Tire Carrier - Suburban

EmersonHart13 - I thought about that, I'd want to have a way to lock it... The truck is already 7 feet tall, not sure about adding another foot or two... Then trying to get the tire up there... Getting it dwon would be easy. :D Is this what you've got going?

External Spare Tire Carrier - Suburban

I'm not sure why I don't like that feature very much; it seems easy to steal, may not be a valid concern. I think I would prefer a rear bumper with the tire mount integrated into it. I'd like to see more options...

External Spare Tire Carrier - Suburban

I'm looking for spare tire mounting options. My tire doesn't fit in the stock location and I don't like it taking up so much cargo room. I found a neat looking carrier: http://www.tiregate.com/hg_series_0.shtml The bad: It costs about $800 and it mounts into the reciever hitch. The...

Lifted trucks - what jack to use?

I was looking at them. My interest began when I saw the thread about them. I've got the factory jack, not sure if it will work or not. I'll have to give it a try before I need it.

Lifted trucks - what jack to use?

What jack do you guys use on the road to change a tire? Does the stock jack work? I've got a 1999 Suburban running 35" tires and a lift (3" ?).
