    Horn problems

Also do those two green wires come from the single positive red wire that’s protected to the right or the bigger protected bundle of wires to the left? Kinda hard to make out the location the green wires are coming from

    Horn problems

Ah I found a female end plug that with a green wire that doesn’t fit in the the original plug, may be because of the wrong harnesses installed years ago (I heard they rebuilt the truck using parts from a different truck). When I rig the plug to work with the horn plug nothing happens until I use...

    Horn problems

Also when I use a jumper wire like this from the relay ports directly to the plug with no home, the horn works. But with out the plug plugged in, I can’t really verify if the relay works.

    Horn problems

I would really appreciate that. I’ve been almost to the point of going to my neighbors house (who I’ve never met, but has the same year truck) and asking them if I could look into their engine bay to see where their plug goes haha. Probably not the best way to introduce myself. And I followed...

    Horn problems

Thanks for the reply and the diagrams. I check the ground wires you’re referring to and remembered I replaced those about 7 months ago back when I had a starter issue. I’m 100% sure my horn issue is due to the plug not being hooked up. The plug has a solid green wire (which goes directly to the...

    Horn problems

horn hasn’t work since I got the truck back in 2020. It’s a 1996 gmc k1500. The horn works when rigged up to a dewalt 20v battery, and is directly plugged in, but when I trace the wires further down, I see another plug close to the fuse box under the hood that isn’t plugged up and I can’t find...

    Rear gear ratio reprogram

So my boss today let me borrow his otc encore can tool. He says it can be used to reprogram rear gear ratio in vehicles and I can’t figure out how to find that setting for my 1996 gmc k1500. Does anybody else have experience with this tool?

    Cluster speedo not accurate

Yes 4l60e brand new from GM. And the tires are standard size for the truck. I definitely need to get this fixed soon because my odometer is climbing fast and I got a 100,000 mile warranty for the motor and tranny

    Cluster speedo not accurate

Yeah I emailed them and asked them what all would I gain from their tune. And my Spedo problem. This was their reply Once I figure out the gear ratio, I can let them know and I’ll have the problem fixed, along with some better performance and mpg. Just gotta save up money for that..

    400 vs newer

My step dad had a 2001 GMC Sierra single cab long bed that felt like that too. There was so immediate throttle response even tho the truck is fast with a 5.3. The interior looks so bad and the seats are not that comfortable at all, I even felt like I was sitting lower. My 95 Silverado could...

    400 vs newer

One more thing, 89-98 is the BEST model In my opinion because they kept the same body style (that looks better than anything) the same for years. And not just on Silverado, but Yukon’s, suburbans, And Sierras. All parts are interchangeable between 4 different models in a 9 years span. Junks...

    400 vs newer

The year (2011) I started off with a 93 GMC Sierra that I “totaled”. It was still drivable and didn’t report it to my insurance company as I only had liability and they would’ve considered it totaled. I ran into a ditch. Any ways got enough money to buy a brand spanking new 1995 Chevy Silverado...

    Cluster speedo not accurate

That jet programmer might just be my answer, and I’ve been looking into the denial 120 cluster also, just seen a video of a guy explaining everything that need to be done to complete it. The guy was driving the truck after words and it was raining out. I really feel like your that guy haha

    Cluster speedo not accurate

That’s pretty cool, I’m a maintenance technician and do everything like welding, electrical, mechanical and machinist stuff and I’ve used this method to determine what a gear box is geared to if the name plate is missing but I never thought to do it with the rear axle Great video. By the way...

Yeah the number in the 70mph range that a gave are for sure not reality. My wife wasn’t as invested as me when giving me actual speeds and maintaining the same speed as me haha

    Cluster speedo not accurate

I started off by calling the local auto zone and seeing if their fancy hand helds could reprogram my gear ratio to try to get the Spedo close to accurate, but the said they don’t have anything that would go back that far (year model wise). They recommended some website that sells them, I think...

    Cluster speedo not accurate

I don’t think the odometer is correct because after an oil change, 3,000 miles would come around a lot faster than with any other vehicle. I did zero the trip and drive to work which is around 35 miles away and once I got there it said I traveled 54ish miles
