    Cloyes 3092 slack in chain

    Just installed the cloyes 3092 timing set on my 5.7 vortec and I am surprised with the amount of slack in the chain. Has anyone else experienced this? And is it somewhat normal? I need to post a video somehow? Maybe to YouTube so you guys can see.

    Crack in cylinder??

    Hey guys, before I put this engine back together in my garage I noticed something in the bottom of the cylinder. Take a look at the pic. I'm hoping it's just a ridge from the factory and not a crack, any ideas on what I should do? I really don't want to be taking apart the shortblock.

    What would be a reasonable price to pay when the time comes to get my 97 Suburban's 4l60e rebuilt? It's a 2wd burb. I would bring the trans to the shop myself plus install the trans myself once rebuilt.

    Any recommendations for what lifters too use in my 97 5.7 vortec? Most of my stock lifters at 221k miles had to be pulled out with vice grips , apparently they had some crud built up on them??? Gonna be using stock cam and valvetrain.
