Exterior Window Runner Clips

Trying to replace the exterior window runner (bottom of window, runs under the mirror) on my 90 chevy... I cant figure out how the damn clips fit into the runner correctly. I always end up with bulges on the outside of the runner, looks like crap! Anybody got any tricks for this? Thanks!

Any love for 90s 454ss trucks?

Few pics of mine... 4/6 drop w 17x8 and 17x9 TT2s in 235/60R17 & 265/60R18 Nittos. Motor has a 30 bore, honed, decked, Edel intake/heads/water pump/chain/headers, Isky cam w Crane rockers.
