I was always under the impression that all the internals are the same between 700r and 4l60. Just that the 4l60 is computer controlled. BTW, thank you all for the information.
Well, I replaced the CTS thats in the front of the manifold, and the one in the drivers side head. I bought a Autozone Bosch 02 sensor and it made no difference. I also heard on this forum that anything but a Delco is junk. I replaced the fuel pump about a year ago, before the new motor. Got...
.030 over 350, flat tops, stock heads shorty headers, true duals. Truck starts and idles fine most of the time. Occasionally it will start surging @ idle, 900 rpm down to 400 and back. runs really crappy while driving, like its only running on 2 or 3 cylinders. Mash it to the floor and it...
OK guys and gals, heres the issue, I put a new 355 in my truck that I bought from a local engine builder, added Flowtech shortys, and true dual 2 1/2 exhaust. the engine idles smoothly and with no load it revs nicely. Timing is set to 8 degrees btdc. I run at least 93 octane ALWAYS! When the...
I have a very heavy duty looking aluminum driveshaft in my truck. It has this fiberglass looking coating on it, and the coating is cracked approximately 40% down the side and is peeling back, can I somehow tear the rest of this off and be safe? It seems to be throwing my driveshaft out of...
Flowtech shorties, dual 2 1/2" 16ga aluminized, thru original 40's exiting out both sides behind rear tires. IMHO, the best sounding exhaust I've ever heard. Sounds unbelievable when I tromp it under an overpass. (Or brake torque in the quarter wash, Cop LOVED that!)
Percy's dead soft copper collector gaskets, PERIOD! Do it once, do it right. I fought with blown out collector gaskets in the past, someone hipped me to percy's and I havent looked back. And no, I dont work for them or sell them.
Are there any 5 lug trucks that have the 3.73's from the factory? Want to do the complete drum to drum swap because I cant afford to have someone set up gears. Which trucks should I be looking at?
My 95 silverado had 184k on the original, and used a quart every 150-200 miles. Valve seals in #4 were gone. Pull #4 plug and it looked like coral caked on there. Ran that thing out of oil so many times. Expressway on my way to work @85-90 mph, look down, and NO oil pressure. drove it five more...
You are going to want to buy the best torque wrench that you can afford. Cheap ones don't keep their calibration well. And ALWAYS reset it to its lowest setting after use. Good luck with your project! I think you will find that once you understand how everything works together your confidence...
Thats my baby, got the motor straight, now I gotta tackle those cab corners and lower doors. The rockers are surprisingly solid. Thinking about debadging and removing the wheel well trim. make it not so much an old man truck. Anyone else on here have the RCLB 2WD? I could use some inspiration!
