1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

A little more help please. The truck seems to still be having issues. After the truck has been running for a while it starts to sputter and try to stall. It's kind of like a snowball. IT gets worse the longer it is running. At first when I drive to work in the morning it seems to be doing well...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

I think we are getting very close but I have a few more questions. I ordered the harmonic balancer and installed it. I'm not sure how to tell if the old one was bad or not so I took some pictures. The picture of the inside is pretty accurate but after removing it it also had a chunk of rubber...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

I checked the piston for TDC and figured out what you meant after going back and forth a couple times. When the piston is TDC the timing mark is quite a ways off. interestingly enough the line is off from the TDC and in the same position it was in last time I had to readjust the truck when it...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

I know I am asking a lot of questions but I want to make sure I'm confident and sure with what I am about to do. Interestingly enough, One video I watched showed a puller and the other person removed the balancer using a strap wrench with a wrench. I will make sure to get a puller. As far as...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

Thank you, I did some researching and I'm feeling ready. I believe the things I dont understand yet are things I dont actually need to understand. As you stated above everything seems to line up. All I need to do is make sure #1 valves are closed. Let me type this out and you can let me know if...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

I'm a bit overwhelmed and I'm starting to wonder if I got the chops to get the job done. I'll continue to work on this one step at a time and ask questions if I run across any. Thanks for the excessive help.

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

Other than the new info I wrote above/yesterday, I put the witness mark down and nothing seems to be moving. Everything continued to stay lined up.

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

I have more info for those still around. I didn't get a chance to do a reference mark as I'm slightly unsure how to. Meaning I don't know exactly what this means. Ill re-read that post and see if I can make sense of it. I Readjusted everything and found TDC and adjusted everything perfectly...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

Yes it was 10 notches off. After noticing it was 10 notches off, I waited a few hours for it to cool down (so I could get to the distributor without a hot engine) After the couple hours went by, I unplugged the wire and checked again. It was still 10 notches off.

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

The very first time about a week ago? It was about 6 notches clockwise. (there aren't notches so I'm just estimating) I then adjusted to 0, plugged the wire in and drove around for about 15 minutes. I then checked timing again to make sure all was well and it was still on 0. Then I drove to work...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

Yes, I tightened after setting to 0... and Yes, the first thing I checked was to see if the distributor moved. It was still secure, so this wasn't the problem.

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

Hey guys I'm back with hopefully one last question. It appeared everything was good on the truck but when I started it the other day it sputtered quite a bit like it wasn't getting enough gas and the rpm's were really low like it was gonna stall out. It still got me all the way home from work...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

The fact that you picked up on this made my day more than me miraculously finishing the truck yesterday. Yes, to me I just thought they were connected...the same thing. So, Although I would like to share a photo of the mysterious "belt" I'm afraid I will have to direct everyone to the comment...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

I hesitate to ask this question because it will remove all doubt to how ignorant I am. Put in dummy terms I want the line on the belt to be on the large notch aka 0. 1. start truck 2. let truck run to warm up 3 set the line to 0 (no advancing or anything?) 4 everything is good to go?

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

Well, I got the truck to start! I actually thought I wasn't going to figure it out and I nearly gave up. But, I kept trying the things that you guys suggested and searched for a few of the things mentioned on youtube and it worked out. Through trial and error over the past couple days it ended...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

First of all merry Christmas and thank you to everyone that came back to help after I got everyone mad. Another long story short, I live on kauai and getting the individual parts mentioned above wasn't an option and the only option I had was to get an entire distributor. I watched some YouTube...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

Now that everyone is done getting mad and making fun of the stupid kid I'm back with more info. With as little explaining as possible I tried to checking for spark the other day and didn't get it. Being that I had never checked for spark before I didn't trust myself when I wasn't getting a...

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

I was hoping someone would have a really good idea of what it was without me needing to check for spark and I could just get the part and fix the problem. Will a OBD 1 let me know the problem if the engine light is on?

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

I hope I'm putting this in the right place... and hopefully someone can direct me in the right direction. I was driving my 1994 Sierra 1500 and it started to sputter like it was running out of gas. This happened for about 3 seconds then it stalled. I tried restarting but it only cranks strong...
