    Borgeson Steering Box?

Mine is the same way as well. The truck has been wrecked before and have not been able to completely dial in my alignment so I’ll spend the extra money on it while it’s apart to rule it out. Otherwise, I’d leave it.

    Borgeson Steering Box?

I am not sure what joints you’re referring to. There is the rag joint on the shaft that I will replace but as far as the drag link goes, it’s just the pitman arm coming off the box and the idler arm off the idler arm bracket on the frame.

    Borgeson Steering Box?

I was just asking in general what was preferred but it is a 97 C1500

    Borgeson Steering Box?

I’m looking into replacing my steering box and want to know what y’all are running? I’m looking at the Borgeson box but am also open to the Redhead, Bluetooth and other reputable companies. I’m wondering how these boxes hold up compared to a junky reman and what y’all would recommend. For the...

    What is your favorite RTV?

Hondabond has my vote. It’s up there with the Toyota stuff. When used in appropriate applications, that stuff seals for a long time. It’s expensive ($18) but I always quote a tube in jobs that require it and have a good supply of it. I’ve used it obviously on Hondas at work but also many Ford...

    Misfire diagnosis

Fuel pressure has not been checked with a gauge but I’m assuming it’s ok as I have no long cranking when cold or hot. As far as the scan tool, we have Autel scanners and I am new to them. I learned on the Snap On Zeus and everything is in a different place on the Autel. I believe it is capable...

    Misfire diagnosis

I’m troubleshooting a misfire on my 97 C1500 with the 350 Vortec 227K miles. I’ve got O2 sensor codes and a generic misfire code. I’m not wanting to throw parts at it but think it’s injector related but also running lean due to the fuel trim readings. Does anyone have any input to make sure I’m...

    Brake lines

I also like the copper-nickel line. Easy to shape and flare. Amazon has rolls of it with fittings pretty cheap.

    Show us some job carnage

I’m an auto tech at an independent shop here in town. We get a lot of Chrysler products hence the photos. First up are some push rods out of a 5.7 Hemi in a Charger. Belongs to a teenager. Say no more. Next is the wonderful PepBoys alignment. Customer came in saying that their alignment was...

    Death Wheel Strikes Again

I’m going to end up learning my lesson with something like this. I tend to be lazy or too much in a hurry and never wear hearing pro and rarely eye pro. It’s usually safety squints for me.

    4L60E Recommendations

I am open to building one on the side but the only problem is a lack of time. I may end up having to buy a whole unit. I’m mainly looking for good recommendations on parts and units as a whole. Has anyone used the $1800 JEGS 4L60E?

    4L60E Recommendations

Well it’s time to replace my transmission before it craps out on me. It’s grinding/dragging in 1st and rattling starting at 35 mph. It’s got a 120K miles on it so I’d say it’s due. I was wondering what y’all recommend. I don’t really want to fool with a 4L80 swap. Do y’all have any...

    Bed rails?

There’s a set of these on a long bed ‘91 at a junkyard down the road from me. I would’ve snagged them myself if I had a long bed.

That’s how most of the shops are here. It just so happens ours is two years old or so. The boxes are theirs. Tools are mine.

    Young man seeking guidance

I started with HF, Tekton, and Sunex. What I ended up breaking is what I replaced with Mac because I used it and used it hard! I still have and use daily my cheaper stuff. Lifetime warranty is lifetime warranty though. I can replace my HF on break any day of the week but the Mac truck hasn’t...

    Dealer life

I’m also at a Honda dealer and we had another tech turn 90 hours last week. This week has been slow as can be. Not sure what the deal is. I had two cars in my name one week and both before lunch. What a day. Here’s my old area. I moved to another box. They’re company provided.

    Young man seeking guidance

Congratulations! Be sure to look at Sunex tools. They’re inexpensive and 85% of my sockets and wrenches made by them and hold up well. Gearwrench makes some nice stuff too. I also have some cheap HF wrenches and sockets that I have shaved down and bent for more specific jobs so I don’t have to...

    Young man seeking guidance

I like the advice I’m seeing. I’m just a year younger than who started the thread and there’s been some helpful stuff for me as well. I agree with 0xDEADBEEF on the college. I graduated early with a high GPA and everything to start college. Instead I went to work for the local Honda dealership...
