Front diff problems help

Have a 1998 k1500 with a 8.25 front diff, recently took the diff out and rebuilt it and when I got under it today the drivers side output shaft/cv axle stub was able to slide back and forth with slight play. When I rebuilt the diff I put the shaft in and I heard the shaft click with the snap...
