Its a clone of the Crane Compucam 2032.

214/220 @ 0.050
.452/.465 lift
112 LSA and 108 ICL

Was used in the 300+ hp Mercruisers with the dual plane MPI intake.

I recently bought one for a project. $100 shipped to my door. That is a steal for the durability of a billet steel factory roller cam.

Another guy on thirdgen claims his was 207/213 @ .050 with the other specs the same.

Either way its much hotter than the Vortec grind and also a better grind than the 395' cam. It has more duration and lift than either of those cams. Being a Marine cam its emphasis will still be on torque and a flat torque curve but it will make more HP than the 395' cam.

How does the 492 cam compare to the SPO350/357 cam in actual usage? I know the 357 cam has a little more lift and duration, but does that make it less desirable in a relatively stock 350 for daily usage or towing purposes?

SPO and 492 would have roughly the same powerband assuming the duration of the 492 is the 214/220 I degreed. The SPO at 215/224 should come on a little earlier with its 108 LSA. The 492 will have a little broader powerband with more on both ends and slightly less peak torque with its 112 LSA. 492 will have a smoother idle. To me it would be 6 in one hand and a half dozen in the other so to speak. SPO is a great running cam. Just happened to find the 492 cam dirt cheap, so why not try one....I used the 2032 in a build years ago and it made great midrange torque under TBI heads. The SPO would probably make a little more peak hp and peak torque given its advanced intake centerline and the fact it has more exhaust duration to crutch the Vortecs poor flowing exhaust ports.

My 492 cam is destined for the 350 block that came out of my Express van. Might stroke it to 396. Along with my worked over 906s and L31 marine intake. I am on the lookout for a 350 powered pontoon. Hoping to find one that someone let the block crack or needs some work or engine work. Hopefully a Bennington or a Powertoon will fall my way someday soon for a good price. I want a 70 mph pontoon boat.

A lightly loaded 22ft Bennington will hit 55+ with a stock 300 hp 350 MPI Mercruiser and the Bravo drive. I know of one that has Corsa marine headers with above hull captains call switchable exhaust and 1.6 full roller rockers that hits 62 mph with two people on board. Makes about 350 hp flywheel or as measured~320 hp at the prop through a Bravo drive that eats 10%.
