    Any particular type of ATF? I have some Castrol Transmax left over from changing the fluid in my transfer case.

    I will definitely look at those two things and I did run a can of seafoam through. Although it was only for a spirited 15 minute drive to work before immediately changing the oil then. I will have to try it again and leave the seafoam in longer as I am not used to using it on an older motor...

    I know your bottle says partial synthetic, but I think I remember reading once before that Brad Penn is the only brand that sells actual 100% synthetic oil since Castrol changed their synthetic.

    Thanks for all the advice by the way everyone. Decided to start slow rather than go full bore right away and used Castrol part-synthetic and a bottle of zinc additive. So far no new leaks!

    Haha, this truck has been in my family since new and its true, it has spent alot of time sitting. I believe it's early life was spent as a farm truck, but from what I can tell, other than not being used, it was taken care of.

    Ran a can of seafoam with a healthy drive and then changed the oil. Was going to see if any change happened but I noticed my radiator leaking badly all of the sudden, so guess I have to worry about this problem first haha.

    My gauge isn't so much the number it is reading that concerns me so much as how much is fluctuates while simply sitting there idling even after warmed up. I think I will get a video posted if I get the chance to see if maybe I am just chasing something that is normal for the old truck haha.

    So this is becoming very educational, but I guess I was confused on what the gauge was. I thought the gauge I was talking about was oil pressure, but know that I think about the numbers it actually shows, I guess it would make much more sense that it is oil temperature.

    Sorry, the holidays and work were murder on my time and I am just getting back to this issue. I tried the EGR test and pushing on the diaphragm nearly stalled the truck 3 consecutive times trying it. Wish it had been that simple. Have to check out a few more things i guess.=/

    I think I also heard before that Toyota transmission fluid 00718-ATF00 is actually just Dex III. As far as a synthetic substitute for the transfer case, what about Castrol Transmax? I believe one type of it is still considered Dex III equivalent if I am not mistaken?

    Thanks for all the advice everyone. But is it really true about GM saying not to use Dex IV in the transfer case? Seems hard to find anything lower right now.

    That makes sense now that its put that way. I will probably end up going with like a Mobile 1 High Mileage synthetic or something similar in the engine. The transmission and transfer case will also get synthetic too I suppose. Transfer case gets same fluid as transmission correct?

    I figured for the transmission and transfer case I wouldn't have a problem. I was mainly concerned about using synthetic engine oil as I have read a few bad things about using it in older engines.

    Cleaned throttle body pretty good and problem has improved, but not gone away. Was planning to get a throttle body rebuild kit anyway, so guess I will give a rebuild a shot and see if that changes anything.

    I was thinking throttle body possibly. I have a rebuild kit on the way, so I'll just do a rebuild and do one of those BG injection system cleaning kits when I do all the other things I want to do. Is the idle air control valve part of the throttle body?
