Dude I hope one day it will come to you that the negativity that you are trying to force into my positive advice and truth. Is a short sidedness and a flaw in your character that will do nothing but hinder you from anything good.

While it's unfortunate you feel that way. I still feel it's correct to comment on this thread, questioning your research or viability in your statement, given how well Hydraulic fluid has worked in multiple applications.

Given your initial post, which included just bluntness and opinion.

Yes it’s not to you bc you don’t have to make a living by it.Ps. I build performance 60s all day and am known for LS builds and swaps around my community…but I also know this same community ultimately wlcould cause me to starve . All in the name of customer service. It’s not a check that will cash in every bank on any day. So it’s to have insurance and warranty derived by these same manuals that im preeching

Saw-dust and bannana peels in differentials, transfer cases and manual transmissions
Black pepper and brake fluid in radiators
copper anti-sieze in engine oil
Lucas snake oil and hydraulic fluid in auto transmissions
Kerosene in hydraulic systems... and in general just swapping auto-trans fluid, hydraulic oil, snow plow oil, etc willy-nilly.
copper shim-stock inside u-joint caps
Tire plugs in gas tanks

Its amazing what some people do to just get those last few miles out of a junk beaters or farmers do to just get through harvest.
Hey! I had a gas tank that could've benefited from a few well-placed tire plugs. JB-weld wasn't up to the task (learned that lesson over 35 years ago.)

Something tells me tire plug rubber might have lasted a couple weeks longer than the JB, which didn't last a couple days. ;)

That was a combination of defective torque converters and "rolled" hydraulic lip seals upon installation. Not all 8 speeds had that issue. The 2020 trucks received improved torque converters and revised seals.

Not to toot ny own horn and was not wanting to pull this card but I’m also GM certified and did a ton them recalls. Every single one of them was a transmission flush and filled with newly designed atf. These were the ones that showed no symptoms of tc damage those we replaced tc. We had barrels upon barrels of atf in the shop we couldn’t give away

You are not wrong though but every single 8 speed that came out of factory with atf was recalled and swapped. Point being the gm engineers accepted that their initial way of thinking was wrong and they took that L and made it better

I’ll say this and be done. I appreciate everyone’s replies and opinions. For they have made clear my initial complaint and issues that I face daily in this field.

I started reading through this, thinking I would actually see info as to why hyguard is bad, been debating the switch. The internal components of the newer JD stuff is not that far off from whats inside my 4l80. I tend to trust hyguard over whatever crap is on the auto parts store shelf.

While I'm not on the rotella train, manufacturers use lighter oils because it allows them to boast higher mpg on the window sticker, and restrictions, etc.
