Question - can a weak or failing power steering unit cause this issue?

Redhead steering box - disappointed so far

Good point and something to consider. One difference with mine is that I used a shaft from a Grand Cherokee and modified the existing shaft to make it work there aren't any soft point that I know of, but I should double check.

Redhead steering box - disappointed so far

I've got the jeep steering shaft installed, so no soft points in the connection. Mine is the quick ratio as well. My brain knows that I should just send it back, get a warranty replacement, and try again, but I'm getting sick of the issue . I was (still am) hoping someone would point out...

Redhead steering box - disappointed so far

Near the end of last year I rebuilt the front end on my truck - all new steering gear and ball joints - along with a new steering box from Redhead Steering Gears. My truck is not a daily driver, so probably around around 1500 miles driven in a year. Within 10 miles the new steering box became...

I like the leather wrapped look of these, but I think I prefer shallow wheel with a smaller, flatter center cap. Sorry for the delayed reply. I didn't see the responses until now.

    For inspiration - Project Binky

If you're interested in fabrication this is one of the most entertaining series I've seen to date. These guys run a race shop in the UK and are self taught on the art of building race cars.

    Courtesy circuit

I was searching for those earlier and I appreciate it. ;) Fortunately I tracked down the culprit just a few minutes ago. I followed out the run for the footwell courtesy lights, and all of the wires had been crushed under the steering column mounting bracket. @joep88cheyenne @Eveready...

Found a clue. Someone before me was trying to figure this out. Looking under the dash, the door switch on the drivers side has been unplugged. Looking for other stuff...

1994 K1500 RCSB I've been tracking down and repairing my truck's minor electrical gremlins for a fee weeks. Over that time I've replaced the tail light housings, the headlight switch, the turn signal switch, the dash panel dimmer switch, and cleaned up as many grounds and connections as I can...

My headlights dont work! Please help!

I've had issues with my headlights for the last few months and I finally found the issue yesterday. My headlights would flicker on/off and I thought the old switch might be the issue. I replaced the switch a few weeks ago, and while it seemed to work initially, the lights would not come on a...

I'm considering a repro Corvette C4 wheel. It looks like it will fit. Anyone tried?

    Steering wheel ideas

I like the look. The only thing that may not work for me is the depth. My truck is a regular cab and I may need to find a wheel with a flatter profile to give me little more space.

    Steering wheel ideas

I need to tear down the steering column in my 94 K1500 for a few repairs. I have been considering replacing the steering wheel, and I might as well do it while everything is apart, but I'm not sure what I want. Let me see some pics of aftermarket and alternative GM steering wheels you guys have...

You might have the same shaft that I used. Take a look at post #372 to see the work around that I chose.

It should work without issue. The main thing is to make sure that you're working with this style of steering shaft: ...and not this one:
