    Mine did this about a coupe of years ago. They are notorious for eating the distributer gear. You described exactly what mine did! Replace the distributor. My cam gear was perfectly fine and most people say they didn't see any damage on the cam.

    Sadly this isn't the original line. It was replaced about 2 years ago. The front are original as far as we can tell and still seem to be working fine, but we're replacing those also.
