And the latest: Somebody might have retired their GMT400, because we now have the name of somebody who tried to sell some material like what we had stolen. A different make of truck, registered to that guy, was photographed after dark one night in October, obviously "scoping out" the materials...

Excellent. Thanks, guys. That was really very early in the evening for the thieves to be out, but maybe they were just checking out the area. Nobody really should have been on that road after dark, anyway. That new cam is in a different location than the original one, and it's supposed to be...

Got distracted by the "Girls and Trucks" thread for a few minutes :naughty:, but I'm back. I know the pic is terrible, but what are the chances the vehicle is a pickup truck, particularly the GMT400 I had photos of back in March and April? Any help would be much appreciated.

Narrowing down the year I spent some time this afternoon rereading Greg's History thread, and was wondering about some things that might narrow down the year of the suspects' truck. One item would be the metal CHEVROLET plate on the tailgate. That would make it a '97 or earlier, right...

Thanks; that's a good summary of "spotting features" for that truck. Yeah, the places we've contacted so far mostly said they haven't seen any RR materials, and one said they won't accept such things without a letter. State law says they can't take manhole covers or anything with a town name or...

And the info garnered here and on PlowSite about things like the bed rails/caps will help "rule in/rule out" any candidates. Somebody on a law enforcement site I use has already found a couple of possible matches, one of them from the same county as where those thefts are taking place. He said...

Yeah, and make a wicked cool custom out of it. With the expertise here, that could be fun. I don't know how much data DMV would need to do a search, and not knowing the actual color of it is making things worse. I haven't seen many trucks driving around that could be a match for it, but...

They hit us again After midnight, Thursday morning. I think it was the same truck and people, but no side views of the truck this time. The rear plate is a little more visible (nothing that looks like trailer hitches in front of it), but no more readable than before, at least with my limited...

Dang, I thought we had some new info on this. 1Bad, would you administer a :buttkick: to the interloper, please? Thank you. Still waiting for word from the guy who was going to try the high-tech software on my photos, so for now, the description of that truck is my best bet. I was hoping to...

Okay, thanks. (Now I gotta sort all this out, but I should probably be outside doing stuff now that the sun is out again.) If the one in my pics had the Z71 badge where that white one above does, we'd know more about it even though Big Thief has his lard *** in the way. So the two above are LB...

Okay, I''ll change my description document to RCSB. All the talk about wheels and hubs and such has left me in the dust. I'm guessing that's one of the hints for 4x2 vs. 4x4. What's the consensus on that?

D'oh! That shoulda been the first place I looked. That's not the first brain phart this project has caused me.

I kinda thought the little "glint" near the mirror might have been a smaller convex, wide angle spot on the main mirror. Something that would catch the light at an angle that the flat mirror wouldn't. If he tows with it, that would make sense, I think. I haven't posted the photos "publicly"...

I'll have to find a tech school or something around here where they can mathematize (new word) that to find out. Let the little nerds have a field day. (I can say "nerds" because I was one, other than being an underachiever, and math-impaired. Still am, actually. ) Oh, I got the joke...
