    I drove my truck yesterday ( 1994 k1500 5.7) and it wouldnt shift into 3rd but will shift back down to first. It doesn't feel like its going into neutrual it just wont shift out of second gear.     I have the negative up to the altnetor and I cant remember If positive had one or not If It did have it I dont think I put it back on.

    Mine is smoking from the ground wire on the back of the motor. Its trying to start but it wont start and sounds really slugush

    I do have the wires on the distributure and plugs right, I think its the timing for sure

    Its a 1994 tbi 350, It probably is backwards does it matter what way the distributer cap is?

    I have no Idea I've never messed with timing before. I do know the cap is on the right way but under it with the plate and cap that could be 180 degrees backwards I never notice it going in a certain way.

    I just replaced my intake manifold today and I put everything back together and went over it and over it to make sure it was right. I tried starting it and It wouldn't start . The ground wire to the back of the engine would smoke and smoke every time I tried starting it. I think my timing is off...
