I hacked off a lot of the front crossmember for cleanliness. I probably have photos in the thread I started about the job. You could make a bolt in or weld in crossmember to tie the engine mounts together. My friend did a bolt in one from simple square tube.- KevinF

What have you towed lately
That goose in particular is big enough it doesn't make much sense to put behind a little truck. Its heavy, big torque tube running down the length, huge i beam frame. Tandem axles right towards the rear. However, I got a smokin deal on it so it is what I've got. Tandem duals are a better setup... -
What have you towed lately
I was watching this auction and felt I couldn't do without 500ft of 4 inch pipe (40 foot lengths) two hours from home. Trailer is same I have posted before. 30 ft tandem dual Gatormade. 8500lb tare. 5k lbs pipe. Aside, got my 255 85s put on the red truck this year. -
How to: NBS master cylinder swap for firm brake pedal
On my 98 I ran an 05 Tahoe HB and master because I had already swapped in a 03 5.3L so I knew the HB lines would match. It was easy to make the brake pedal rods mate up, you run a 3/8 NC die over each rod and connect them with an allthread coupling nut. I have a question that I don't think...- KevinF

Took a short hiatus to build the railing on the mezzanine. Knocked the perches off. I heard lots of horror stories about removing the cast perches. It took 5 minutes per side. It sits pretty nicely on the springs. I have to think about how flat/raked I want it to sit, adjust the pinion a bit...- KevinF

The rear axle is sold so I'll get that pulled and maybe get that Sterling set in place tonight. Here's how the crossmember looks under the truck. Looks like I'll have plenty of room for the front driveshaft to travel but it would be quick to clearance the crossmember for it if needed. Its not...- KevinF

Some progress. I don't think I'll have to clearance it for the front driveshaft. The trans mount sits tilted 2 degrees which is equal to factory I figure.. This is a 1.5 x 3 tube that I found to be a good fit after some front crossmember hackery.- KevinF

The track bar bushings are MOOG 3176 I think. TJ track bar rear poly bushing. They fit a 1.5 inch ID tube and the bolt sleeve is 1.6" long. The track bar bracket at the axle end is quarter but 3/8 at the ears. Got the coil buckets blasted because they were a little crusty. Leaned them back 6 degrees which is basically what they are on the Ford frame ..ish. The track bar bracket is .179 wall pipe with 2 inch 250 wall DOM for...- KevinF

I don't need a flex joint and they wear too quickly for my taste on something street driven. I found cool synergy parts that will allow me to make my track bar adjustable if I need, but I shouldn't really need. The bushings I am going to run are TJ rear track bar poly bushings. Its not a wheeling rig (the front axle in my Toyota is moved forward 3+ inches) and its also already the longest wheelbase available in GMT400 I think, so the turning radius is moot. Certainly both do have their place, and the torch has a place somewhere in there too. I try to use the recip saw on frames and exhaust wherever possible because you can pinch a zip disc and explode it pretty easily. Worst case with the recip saw is you wipe the teeth of the blade or bend it...- KevinF

Got the duratracs sold and the welding deck pulled. One guy was inquiring about trading the welding deck for a nice 8 ft flat bed but he has dropped off the face of the earth. On the weekend I grabbed the front of the truck with a 5/16 chain and the loader bucket as I've done quite a few times...- KevinF
