    I had that problem once and after banging my head against the wall for almost a month I found that it ended up being a bad ground between my motor and the frame.

    I know. But that’s what it idles at right now. Which is why I’m asking for help. It runs great when I’m driving but whatever failed that is making this happen also makes it backfire between shift and when downshifting. I’ve had a lot of these trucks over the years and this is a new issue for me.

    Distributor cap, rotor, wires and plugs are a couple months old. The thing that really bugs me is that it was running perfect the night before when I got home. Then I wake up and go to work and it’s like this.
