    Swapping front diff help

I better finish what I started. Don’t use guesses kids. I know better… The noise was definitely the transfer case. It was covered in muck from leaking both at the seals and a hole from the famous pump inside rubbing. It ran low and while I havnt opened it up yet to see the sparkles inside I...

Thermal to electric front diff actuator wiring

Researched this plenty this week and found this. Credit to Grube. Post is below in similar posts. https://www.gmt400.com/threads/97-yukon-4wd-actuator-upgrade.65737/unread “Removed thermal actuator, cleaned threads, installed new spacer plug. Applied threadseal to new actuator and wind...

    Swapping front diff help

I did that early on in this. It all seemed smooth as butter without a load. We weren’t exactly flooring it but I felt like we had made all the parts move sufficiently. I’ve almost considered hanging out the front and rear doors while someone drove and tried to listen with a hose or some...

    Swapping front diff help

Actuator swapped. Functions as should. Still horrible loud grinding noise above 25mph and when it first engages ( I never had my window down) it makes a squeaking suction noise like somebody loudly slurping a noodle. For about 2 seconds. What I’m trying to figure out is how to further...

    Swapping front diff help

That’s what I did. I put the donor replacement actuator into diff (original) before removing the original diff and drove it in 4. And it engaged into both 4 and 4lo fine. My battery was dead the next morning but I think that was a coincidence. Like dead dead. Warranty covered it. I hope I...

    Swapping front diff help

So I think I can use my new actuator from the dead diff with my current wiring and will need the spacer from the wiring kit to make this work. Anybody ever been able to substitute a common object or know where to source it alone?

    Swapping front diff help

So then maybe this better asks my question. How do I overcome the differences in wiring layout in the plug. First pic is of the new to me diff. The other pic with the glove is my Yukons harness. Do I need to swap the actuators to overcome these differences or rewire my harness?

    Swapping front diff help

98 Yukon 4x4 auto. Front diff grinds loudly in 4. Swapped fluid for fun, no change. Bought a front diff off marketplace. Told him the GT4 RPO code and that it’s 4x4 auto buttons. Got to looking at it (new to me diff) and it’s got two plugs. One to the actuator itself. And one to the...

    Extensive Tune Up Misfires

Update: Cleaned MAF Changed out offending #5 plug Checked Vacuum 17-18 hg Cleaned up the easy to reach grounds I could find. Used a can of starter fluid to check for vac leaks and found nothing. Well I just took it 30 miles on the highway and on various driving and hills I have no misses or...

    Extensive Tune Up Misfires

Thanks. I found them as well. I’ve got a lot of reading up to do. I’ll post here as the project progresses. MAF cleaning tonight as well as some more vacuum leak searching around the offending cylinder.

    Extensive Tune Up Misfires

Clearly I don’t man…. I came here to a group of like minded enthusiasts to ask questions and learn. I felt like up until now that I had been apologetic of my misspoke terminologies and had corrected them. I really did try to follow the most basic schematic of steps to fix what seemed to be a...

    Extensive Tune Up Misfires

I’ll give it a try. But why is it only #5??? The logic part of me is dying to understand this.

    Extensive Tune Up Misfires

It didn’t log the misses until I was coasting. Could that be my cheap iPhone app scanner delaying? I suppose. But it was when I let off the gas completely to slow back down to the speed limit. Floored on the ramp had zero misses and it revs up as normal over 2000rpm. I haven’t had the...
