98 suburban k1500 sputters when shifting and torque converter problems

there are no cats installed and the rear o2 sensors are disconnected as well. i will try to disconnect the front o2 sensors and see what happens. if it runs good then do you think that most likely the o2 sensors are the problem?

98 suburban k1500 sputters when shifting and torque converter problems

motor runs good but when it changes gears is when it has the missing/hesitation. its mostly felt right when changing from 1-2 and 2-3 and 3-4, the motor will stumble/misfire/hesitate for just a split second almost as if the timing changes. i did not check any timing degree or use any dials or...

98 suburban k1500 sputters when shifting and torque converter problems

yes cam was installed correct. and the heads were done by me as well. everything is in time and truck fires right up and runs good for the most part. the distributor gear looks great and it turns freely. the cap and rotor are brand new and the distributor looks to be an aluminum housing, and the...

98 suburban k1500 sputters when shifting and torque converter problems

codes are p0452 and the 2 rear o2 sensors are disconnected because i thought they were causing a severe bogging issue. so the rear o2 sensors and cats are sawed out and disconnected. i also changed the tps with a known good tps from a junk yard. my original tps, the return spring inside it had...

98 suburban k1500 sputters when shifting and torque converter problems

most of the time 1-2 is ok, if i apply any pedal while it is shifting, it shifts hard and there is hardly any sputter. the 2-3 shift is when you can really hear the sputter, it almost sounds like the engine falls on its face for just a split second. then after it changes gears it feels like it...

98 5.7 chevy suburban k1500 weird hissing from intake area and fuel pump runs constantly

well figured id update this and answer that the oil sending unit did infact fix this problem and i also have oil pressure on my dash again :D also, i were having this weird slight hesitation after first cold start, engine would stumble bad when trying to go up a small hill, and after it warmed...

98 5.7 chevy suburban k1500 weird hissing from intake area and fuel pump runs constantly

the timing chain had a good bit of slop in it. with how the engine ran, and me being pissed because of how ****** it was running, i think the stars aligned so that when the exhaust valve bent it fulfilled the prophecy. it misfired bad and would bog real bad almost as if it was almost completely...

    Cam retard

lower intake gaskets might need to be changed. if they are still stock at that mileage then i about bet you thats where your problem is. my stock intake gaskets were toast when i took everything apart to fix a bent valve, and i had a consistent skip and the engine would completely bog under hard...

    Cam retard

i was able to get it, though i do not know if my technique worked because i had to reset the distributor a few times because somehow, i would get it to the only timing mark on the harmonic balancer and then i would line up the distributor for rough timing, but i had to stab it and then turn the...

    Cam retard

nevermind, it just dawned on me, the rotor in the distributor turns clockwise, so to retard it, i need to turn the distributor shaft itself counter clockwise, then i can set proper cam retard. if i was in the negative (to retarded), i could turn the distributor shaft clockwise and then set cam...

    Cam retard

it is a newer distributor. ive had it out and check proper gear orientation (its not on 180 degrees out) and the gears all look great. i have the distibutor turned all the way clockwise as it will go, it is hitting the upper intake manifold. if i take the distributor out and rotate the...

    Cam retard

sorry for digging this thread up lol, atleast it isnt from 2007 right? xD anyways, you said you were +6 ( 5.8 to be exact) out right? did you turn the distributor shaft/rotor counter clockwise to retard it more? i am at +6 and i have turned the distributor clockwise as far as it will go, so...

98 5.7 chevy suburban k1500 weird hissing from intake area and fuel pump runs constantly

yeah the oil pressure switch socket. i must have bumped it when putting the intake back on. the oil pressure sensor worked great before this overhaul and i just barely bumped it so i had to disconnect it resulting in no oil pressure. but luckly.... i had another problem this evening lol. i got...

98 5.7 chevy suburban k1500 weird hissing from intake area and fuel pump runs constantly

ok it seems i have solved the issue. looks like the oil pressure sending unit itself is bad. the oil pressure sending unit sends power to the fuel pump when there is oil pressure. so it looks like the sensor has failed in "has oil pressure" position and is causing the fuel pump to run constantly...

98 5.7 chevy suburban k1500 weird hissing from intake area and fuel pump runs constantly

ok, i have narrowed down the hissing noise and know what it is. when i wiggle the oil sending unit housing, it makes the fuel pump kick on. and the hissing noise i think i gas recirculating back to the gas tank. but why? how is this possible? it only does it when i wiggle the oil sending unit...
