    Electrical Shorts & Limp Mode

Here's a better diagram that I found online which shows more things the Gauges fuse connects to. The PRNDL and Trans fuse will show 38-40Ω to ground if the GAUGES #4 fuse is connected. So this is how I know it something that connects specifically the the GAUGES #4 fuse. I'm assuming its the fuel...

    Electrical Shorts & Limp Mode

I probably replaced every sensor that gave me a code in the engine bay about 2 to 3 times and received the same exact codes before realizing this is an electrical short somewhere and testing wires. Alternator and battery are also both new. The only thing that I could think of that would be...

    Electrical Shorts & Limp Mode

Good afternoon yall, I'm having an issue with my 1998 Chevy K1500 A/T that I've been trying to solve for a while now that is causing my work truck to go into limp mode and also gives me intermittent codes. I went ahead and disconnected the battery aslong as most of the wire harness and took...

    Rebuilt Motor Backfiring No Start

So I had a handful of problems after getting my engine started and I scoured the internet to find abandoned threads with no resolutions. The first problem was engine stalling upon sudden throttle application, despite numerous adjustments to the idle position and cleaning of the AIC. It turned...

    Rebuilt Motor Backfiring No Start

Okay so I went through hell since Wednesday I worked on the truck day and night. The truck WOULD not fully start for the life of me no matter how many times I put the engine at TDC. Everyone kept saying timing, timing, timing. "You're probably not at TDC". Well I mean after checking like 10+...

    Rebuilt Motor Backfiring No Start

Yeah I'm dumb, when I read zero lash, I thought that was on the valve stem not the pushrod. So I overtightened it way too much, I rotated the engine to TDC both compression & exhaust and loosened them to the point where the pushrod starts to have no more up/down play and now when I start it...

    Rebuilt Motor Backfiring No Start

Okay I think loosening the rockers works because now she’s starting to crank normally but it’s just hesitating to full start up. My battery is pretty low I think I’m gonna take it to charge!

    Rebuilt Motor Backfiring No Start

Okay so I turned the engine over with the distributor on and the cap off to see where the rotor lands at TDC compression, I opened up the valve covers to verify this and made sure that the intake valve opens and closes. Everything lines up perfectly. The rocker arms were a little too tight IMO...

    Rebuilt Motor Backfiring No Start

TDC-Compression, atleast that's what I think. I rotated the engine with the valve covers off until the #1 intake valve opened and closed. The first time I did this it was backfiring out the intake now it's backfiring out of the exhaust. Yeah this is Vortec distributor, I lined the dimples up...

    Rebuilt Motor Backfiring No Start

Okay so I went ahead and took the distributor out and set to TDC once more and it is still backfiring out of the exhaust on the drivers side. Is it possible that I tightened my rocker arms a little too much? This is what I'll check for when I get some more light tomorrow.

    Rebuilt Motor Backfiring No Start

I just dropped a sbc 350 long block in my 1998 Chevy K1500 made sure the intake valve was closed all the way and the line on my harmonic balancer lined up with the timing chain cover. I could feel the top of the piston through the #1 spark plug hole. I set the distributor to the #1 spark plug...
