The Stupid Engine Questions Thread
I'm looking to replace my oil pump. There are two available. One has a 3/4" inlet, the other has a 5/8" inlet for the screen. How do I determine which one to get? Or do I just get one and then get a new screen to go with it? I'm told both sizes will fit my truck. 1993 C1500 2dr 2wd...- drice72

It will almost start...
I have a 1993 C1500 4.3L. I had to change out the intake gasket over the weekend. In the process I lost time. I'm just wanting to make sure I'm following the procedure correctly as I just can't get the engine to fire. I set the #1 cylinder to TDC on the compression stroke. I did this by...- drice72

What do you recommend to use to flush it? I was planning on running some Seafoam through it, is there anything else?- drice72

I think I'm going to do that. It's just weird, it doesn't smoke at all, never has burned any oil, just external leaks here and there. This last leak is a big one, it pours out from under the intake and that is the only leak on the motor. I have removed the inspection cover to make sure there is...- drice72

No, I have been checking it everyday. the most I have had to add is two quarts. It didn't start doing this until I added the 10w-40, that is why I suspect it is too heavy.- drice72

I have an oil leak in my 1993 C1500 4.3. The leak is coming from my intake, and I plan on putting in a new gasket kit this weekend. This thing is leaking a quart a day, so I got the bright idea to put in some 10w-40 to maybe slow the leak. I think this was a huge mistake. My motor now won't...- drice72

93 4.3L Oil Pressure Issues...
Needing an oil change will also cause the gauge to read low pressure. Mine did that when i first bought it. I thought I had a bad sensor/pump. Stupid ignition switch question...
I, in a fit of insanity, removed the ignition switch from my truck. Now, for the life of me can't figure out how to put it back. Does anyone have a picture of how the switch mounts to the steering column along with how the linkage attaches. I can't figure out how that blasted thing goes on...- drice72
