So an update thus far is that it's not electrical as one pointed out...That'd be Scooterwrench.... Thank you.... After further investigating and talking with a guy who worked at GM stated it's in the rack... So it's actually a mechanical issue... I checked on the part, discontinued....
I'll...
Well as luck would have it... I went and started the truck this afternoon. Sat and idled to warm up... Went to leave, stuck in Park again. Shut it off, started it, shifted right into gear.... Seems the longer you let it idle in Park, the more prone it is to get stuck in Park....
I went out and did some more checking on the truck... Looked under the column at the bottom for anything that didn't look right.... The NSS I installed caught my attention.... Apparently when I plugged it in, I only had one terminal plugged in instead of the two prong.... I pulled the plug and...
Rack Switch Actuator...? I see that in the drawing and see that it's also under the steering unit inside the column on left side when sitting in the truck looking at the steering wheel....
Hey Scooterwrench.... You talking about the shift linkages under the truck between drivers side and transmission ? Or something else that 'm not understanding.... This thing has been a mind numbing issue it seems....
Well I spoke too soon I reckon.... I started it up, let it idle for a few minutes and wouldn't come out of park... Shut it off, re-started and right into drive it went... But that was the only time, although I didn't drive it very much but will be out driving it tomorrow.... Guess I'll know...
Update::: I've had more than a few people scratching their head on this.... But good news, it was the NSS... While replacing that, I found out that my dimmer switch was just loose causing the rod to not be fully engaged into the switch....
UPDATE:: I replaced the Neutral Safety Switch today.... 16 dollar piece of plastic... Haven't really taken it out for a test, started feeling bad....I'll check it out tomorrow when I take my dog to the Vet....
No it doesn't..... I replaced the Neutral Safety Switch today.... 16 dollar piece of plastic... Haven't really taken it out for a test, started feeling bad....
Once I get time, I'll be checking the rubber bushing in the linkage underneath for wear.... The transmission been out 3 times.... The last is when I had a professional rebuild it... So being 30 years old, nothing surprises me anymore... Last thing I really want to do is break into the steering...
After learning it had one inside and not outside, I'm seeing it's location... Does the dimmer rod run along thru it ? I dont have bright lights due to the switch not engaging some kind of rod....
