Well, I do believe the fuel pump just quit on me in a convenience store parking lot. How convenient, lol.. Buddy towed me up the road to my house, saved myself a tow bill.
So basically, I turn the key, no hum from the tank at all. Crank till cows come home with nothing, traded fuel pump relay with AC and no change. Be nice if I could check fuel pressure but need to find some adapter fittings first.

Drove fine to the store, parked, shut off, came back out and started and it fired up for a second then died. And that was it!

You folks able to confirm my suspicions?

No need to check fuel pressure, if pump isn't running it'll be zero. I thought I had it bad spending my holiday at work, at least I'm not spending the day pulling my bed.

Just went out and turned key forward, pumped kicked on, fired up.. Drove it till it got to operating temp, shut it down, and it fired right up..
What the heck.. I have in the past had some issues where I would fire up the truck and it would die, I would need to hold my foot on throttle around 1200-1500 rpm to keep it from stalling. Then it would idle fine.

?!

I have a fuel pressure tester, but it doesn't thread onto the schrader valve, and I don't want to pull fuel line off and throw in this extension piece with a schrader valve T'd in.. I'll hopefully pick an adaptor piece up later and check the pressure..

Any other possibilites?

You could have a bad connection at the pump or ground. The road de-icer or salt they use in the winter is hard on electrical connections.

Have one brutal looking ground strap at the filler neck..(Is that one for anything other than discharging static?) checked the ground on top of frame rail it is tight, I'll poke my head up and have a better look. Thank you for the response.

Hoping to get this issue fixed this weekend.. I was supposed to be putting my boat in the water for the summer today, and going salmon fishing tomorrow... dang it!

It was the fuel pump wiring harness inside the tank. It had completely melted and no longer could make a connection. I guess it starting this morning was its last kick at the cat!

I ended up cutting an access panel in the bed, replacing the pump, strainer and once I noticed the harness, I went back to the parts store for that.

$120 altogether, and a few hours in the rain... she breaths fire yet again..

Died on me in a different 7-11 parking lot.. lovely!
Starter was giving me a click. Pushed on a wire and it grounded on the frame and sparks-a-flying... tightened it up and she started..

anyways.. now that's figured out.. I WONDER....

If the starter power wire was hitting the frame while driving (gravel roads, bumps etc...) Would it try to engage the starter while I'm cruising?

If so.. i wonder if my starter was engaging while driving, shooting the gear into my flywheel, causing it to stutter and sometimes bind in there? Is that even possible?
I'm grasping at straws, really.

Yeah it does actually, lol, it's a full plywood box liner.. "Mytron Box Liners"
It'll be coming out eventually heh.

I'm a bit late on this one, but I got a chuckle out of the fact that your truck has a Mytron wooden liner in it... That means that truck has seen up north haha.

Mytron Box Liners is a locally owned private company, guy works out of his shop in Charlie Lake, 5 minute drive from Fort St. John, BC, where I live haha.

My truck came with a Mytron liner too!
