I really plan to resurrect this truck this year, with the amount the 8.1 eats, this very well might become my DD for summer!

Why would you make a 454 into a 427? Thats giving away power.

A destroked 454 to a 427 is going to rev faster and higher. It can push the peak power higher into the rpm band. The engine is seized up, so a lot of parts will need replaced anyways. It's whatever floats his boat

OK. First Im going to give you guys a little info on me so you know where Im coming from. Im 41. Ive built and raced cars sence I was 18. I have a 71 chevelle with a 505 bbc That has run a best of 6.62 at 105 in the 1/8 mile. drove it to the track. No power adders and with 87 in the tank. I can agree with to each his own, but I will say something if it doesnt make sence. The whole 427 can rev faster than a 454 is a myth. And its a truck. Its not light. You are giving up what you really need. Torque. I can understand not stroking it because you dont want to spend the money, but destroking it just backwards. And like I said, it is yours do what you want. I just dont want to see you get disapointed because you were missinformed.

Building a 427 was cost effective for me, already had a fresh crank, pistons, and other parts laying around.

Doesn't matter anyways, plans changed when I got my HD, it needs an engine bad and a 496 isn't cheap!

Ordered a set of eBay headlight/park lights, also a set of 5000K HID's for the low beams.

Getting the truck on the road tomorrow, i miss her!

Did a bunch of work to the truck, got plates on it, heading to my buddies tomorrow to change the flexplate!
