Yeah, I just took a knife and reamed the hole out a little bigger for the LEDs.

How did you guys mount your aftermarket radios? I've installed head-units in other vehicles but I can't figure out how to secure the radio mounting bracket inside the dash, cause the factory radio just slides into place and snaps in but I can't do that with my aftermarket one. Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

These dashes require a mounting kit to mount your aftermarket radio in. It will snap in place and hold your new radio. It also has a trim ring to fill the gap in size difference in the 1.5 din factory radio and 1 din aftermarket stereo (most)

I came in here just browsing, who knew I would find this! I am replacing one of these on my '98, this is very helpful.

What he said. It was easier to install the dash kit and aftermarket head unit than it was to remove the factory crap.

Alright thanks for your help, I have just never seen a factory radio mounted that way
1badgmc- How did you make that little shelf under the knobs where you took the cd player out?

Also something you can buy cheap, that is called a CD delete pocket. Check a pick and pull, or ebay.

I need an interior diagram for a 97 chev 3 door, it's been a few weeks and I am forgetting where it goes back in. All interior is out short of the dash.
