well recently my truck hasnt been cranking right an then the starter went out so i put a new one and it still acted up then i got under the truck an rotated the flex plate and found several damaged and missing teeth.. so obviously it needed to be replaced, pulled it on in the bay an started on it and then realized since im pulling trans anyway ill replace the torque converter... got it all put put back together and took it down the road the response was much nicer and i realized the "bucking" was gone an hasnt done it since and its been a solid week! im not saying it will fix everyones but the new TC took care of my problem..

Man I wish I had access to a shop like that! Would make it a lot easier and nicer to work on my junk!

I would try a trany flush before changing the TC. Yes you may open up some leaks doing the flush on high milege trany. Fords do something similar, I had one. It would shudder when it shifted into od, felt like I was driving over a bunch of rail road tracks. Flushed it, problem solved and no leaks with 150k on it.

I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I get a bucking at around 45-50 mph when apply light throttle input. I can feel it in the steering wheel and the passenger can notice it too. Especially if a lug it on a hill and give it a little gas. I have to like floor it to get it smooth again.

Seems to run fine at all other speeds and accelerates smooth.

Anyone have ideas??

7 times out of 10 this is caused by a worn distributor gear. What's worse is they typically wear on one side so you don't always feel it. I'm not saying that's the case here but definitely worth a check, especially if you're on the original distributor.

sounds very similar to mine gw. if im running about 40-45 when the rpm is about 1300 and give it any gas no matter uphill downhill or what its almost guarantee bucking. then i have to get it on it to get it up to 2k. thing is constantly going everywhere its gotta be hard on the tranny. i would run in third but then mpg goes to ****. seems like if i can just get it to 50 and keep my momentum up it does ok. im trying to learn how to avoid it.

man you could start by checking your TCC solenoid in your trans pan to see if your getting right amount of voltage to it but yeah what your describing is dead on of what mine was doing, does yours constantly lock and unlock?
