Those tropical islands are magnets for broken planes...Funny how that has a tendency to happen on tropical islands, isn't it?

What's the A/C? 767? did all 4 tires on that gear get flat spotted? nevermind that if one tire on a axle goes down the other must be removed from service, too.Not exactly. We had a Left Hydraulic leak over the Indian Ocean and I got to land on a wet runway at Diego Garcia with no anti-skid.
That one was on a red X whether I shredded the tires or not. That tail is in the boneyard now, where it belongs.I bet it if was a $h!th0le there wouldn't be any red Xs.
Apologies then. As a maintainer, I've seen that nine times out of ten that's caused by a right seater taking the stick for the landing. Not exactly. We had a Left Hydraulic leak over the Indian Ocean and I got to land on a wet runway at Diego Garcia with no anti-skid.
I was there when this happened. Didn’t know it got posted until a few years later.
The BOPs was right at 1.8mil buoyant weight. If it would have hit the well head there, that would have cost another 30-40mil.
Riser elevator parted, but luckily we had just connected the tensioner ring (reason it slowed down) if not, we’d have laid the whole mess on the ocean floor
(Ignore the title, the dp operator who posted it hadn’t a clue what happened)
