I found this video
xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
- probably the best info out there if you can make out the rambling...

I have the TPS hooked up - (its a B&M TPS)

Now I need to verify the proper wires are going to the Tach side of the Distributor (at least that's what it sounded like to me)
- White Wire from old dizzy plug
- RPM wire from the crank sensor (Not the 12v wire)

According to them. they did not do anything with the MAF or have it hooked up at all.

It seems the 96+ is different from the 95 and older so... the above only applies to 96+

Time to trace some wires. I think I am good with the white wire... its the Crank Position wire I have to find now... PO that did the swap wired it up so its gonna be tough to find...

Another things is... my truck shifts - its just the weird thing with the OD... hook up may not be my issue but I am gonna verify what I can to at least eliminate that. I am guessing there is something with the code it is poppin for low voltage to the TPS

Looks like the Yellow wire on the Crank Position Sensor is the one.... right>
Did you guys hear what I heard in that video?
White from Ignition to TACH and Yellow from CPS to TACH (is the right?)

You are absolutely correct. There has to be a way to bypass this for my set up though. I am sure I am not the only one with a carb motor and factory computer control tranny. I guess that is the information I am looking for. Hopefully, this isn't damaging my
transmission right now.

Ive seen one get burned up cause the shifts where soft and delayed. So in a big SUV it didnt take long on the clutches.

Best way would be tuned to turn the unneeded stuff off and adjust trans parameters

Mine shifts super smooth and when I am in it, she chirps 2nd so... no soft delayed shifts at all... just the OD/load issue

Id bet some tune work would fix that. I'll dig in a stock tune and see what I find

From an earlier post on this forum:

''
Shift timing and converter lockup at part-throttle is purely a function of TPS vs MPH for a given gear except in kickdown mode (WOT) where engine rpm is also referenced. Temperature also has a minor effect on shift points. Load calculation and torque management control the line pressure and is heavily affected by the MAP and MAF.''

Could you have a bad speed sensor? Which gauge(s) is bouncing - speedo?

edit PS. Should maybe have mentioned the above is from a conversation about 4L 80E shifting.

I only use OD on my trucks that have a 4l60e when cruising over 70 mph. If I use OD below that, every truck has seemed to shift weird to me - Tuned and not tuned. My 4l80e seems smart enough to use OD whenever you want to.

hit Live data and scroll down to the tps and hit the arrow button to enter.... then you can see the graph. you dont need the truck running for the test but the key has to be in the run position. then you don't have to redline the engine to completely open the throttle. be aware that it will drain the battery though...

Does that scan tool bleed ABS and do the cam offset thing?

no hell no! lol I wish! when I bought it they had 3 options in this category and i want with the middle priced option. that's probably the difference between the ops scanner and mine... mine does live data. it also will test O2 sensors and a couple other tests but no abs or airbag options.
