I take a digital Caliper and measure from the outside of the sleeve to the center of the outer tie rod bolt. Take it out and put the new one in to the exact mm and boom perfect alignment. No need to spend $90 on one.

Your method would work, hell I've set toe with a tape measure before but as much as tires cost I would rather spend the $80(here could be more elsewhere)

I hear you. I double checked wheel to wheel with an angle finder before and after also and both were bang on. Truck pulls straight.
