the guy just wanted to show his great skills in painting. it was the painters truck i think so no one had a say in it

Skills are definitely there, I could see this person doing phenomenal work. It is just all of it together and the colors he chose is god awful. Ditch the zebra, change a few of the colors to something that will match better and it would be a wicked job. Showing your work is not just about all the different things you can do, it is also about bringing it all together and making it look good. In that sense the whole job is just one big disaster.
