Tail gate banner

I don't want to remove my banner, so I was thinking about painting the background black., to kind of match the strips on the hood, like the elcaminos had, kind of. What do yall think.

The original mod to black surround is my personal favorite. That looks so good that the factory should have went that way.

I think white looks good,.
I actually have a brand new banner still in its GM packaging,. I looked on ebay,. The things are worth a fortune,..
Doesn't fit on my suburban,.

Well I stripper off all of the old yellow clear coat, and black letters, and after I saw how good it looked, I decided to just repaint the black letters. The aluminum has a lot of shine. Its hard to see in the pics, but man what a shine. I don't like the way the black letters came out, it is a ***** to cut those letters perfect. They still need some more work, and the aluminum will need to be buffed out. The pics don't do it justice. I will post more pics once its complete.

Lots of tedious masking / looking forward to the results. When I first started in body work we had to mask a lot of script lettering when painting very time consuming.

I think it gonna be great! You've inspired me to finally do my tailgate! I'm not gonna use a banner though. Gonna cut the embossed letters out of a 60-66 tailgate and weld them into an extra 400 tailgate I have. Crappy photo chop, but you get the idea!

Gonna do the letters in the pewter color the bottom of the truck is, not white.

Gonna do the letters in the pewter color the bottom of the truck is, not white.

Blending the old with the new, I like it.
