So I have a 1997 OBS Chevy Silverado with the 5.7L V8. The truck is black and on the tailgate the word Chevrolet runs across the back on an aluminum/silver/chrome base? I'm actually wanting to paint the letters and the banner it is on to make it look cleaner. Does anyone actually know what color the banner actually is? I looked on the web couldn't find the color, and it seems most the color of the letters are black.
So if anyone knows the answer to this please let me know.

Thank you

The tailgate banner is anodized aluminum, and the letters were spray painted from the factory. Some members have restored them, or color matched the letters if the truck wasn't black. @kennythewelder restored and polished the one on his truck; there are details on his build thread but I recall he said it was a lot of work.

The aluminum banners, have clear coat on them, from the factory. I stripped that off with some aircraft paint stripper. Then I polished out the aluminum. After wiping the letters down with some alcohol, and taping it off, I spray painted the letters, black. Honesty, it is work to keep the aluminum Brite and shiny. BC of the fact that the tailgate sees a lot of dust, the aluminum banner get dull quickly. The banners were installed with double sided tape at the factory. They are not to hard to remove. You can see the reflection of my jeans in the last pic.
