Are straight blade fans that much louder than S blade fans?

wow how's that fan from ebay work? you got 2 right? do they cool good? did you use a relay kit or thermostat kit for it?

where do you get those bracket to mount the rad when the fan shroud is gone? looks like 81-87 chevy truck style brackets?

I'm kinda interested yet worried about e fans, one is getting a big enough one to keep it cool, although mine runs very cool as is with clutch fan.
I like the cleaner looks of it and saves space, if it helps gas mileage that's pretty cool too. I always wondered if I'd need a single or dual fan though,or if I'd have to buy the biggest cfm I could. I got a stock 350 tbi fresh rebuild and th350 in a k1500. What are your guys opinions on what to use? The cheaper the setup the better for me.

the duel speed taurus/mark VIII fans have been proven time and time again to fool big motors. you can find them in the junk yard for little as $20. its a single fan set up that pulls somewhere like 3500cfm on low and 4500cfm on high. the thing with them are that on start up they pull up to 60 amps but will drop down to 25-30 amps when running. you can just wire the fan up in high speed and not use the low speed and call it good. depending how you set it up and how much you find the fan it could cost as low as $60, but you may have to upgrade the alt to a slightly larger alt so it can handle the load.

hmm what years does it need to be from? I too wondered if s blade was better then straight. That one on ebay is fairly cheap, if I can't get to a junkyard to find one. I think my alt. is 100amp so I'd still need bigger?

i think its out of a 90-95 3.8l version. make sure its the 3.8 not the 3.0l. from my understanding some people have ran it just fine with a good big battery and near stock electrical system. meaning no big power users like a large sound system, inverters, lots of lights, and so on.

your options are not limited to a taurus fan. i have a LS1 fan out of a 02 camaro that i got from the junk yard for $50, but it comes with 2 fans so you have to add a couple of extra electrical stuff. my set up all said and done coasted me like $130 including a new thermostat and shipping.

fan should look like this:

as for alts go i think you have a cs-130 case alt so you could take it apart and rebuild it for 220amps if ya want: http://www.springhillautoelectric.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=37

or imo the better option would find a cs-144 alt at the junk yard and rebuild that into a 240amp unit: http://www.springhillautoelectric.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=42

may cost a little more but with a bigger case alt it will have better cooling and better output lower in the rpm's.

that's something I need to add to my list of things to look for in the junkyard and find me one of them, can they be used as a pusher too or only puller?
It would be even cleaner to have them as pusher since they'd be behind the grille.

that sucks. I know some of them if you hook the ground to a hot and hot to a ground it'll turn the other way, or something like that, seen my old man do it on a couple of escorts or tempos before.

a taurus or mark VIII fan wouldn't fit behind the grill anyways.

I have a wiring diagram in the 'wiring diagrams' section with how I wired my mark viii 2 speed fan with my PCM, you could just replace the PCM in the diagram with some kind of controller and it'd work fine. the mark viii fan will be a larger fan (18") and flow a little more, the taurus is slightly smaller (16") and flows a little less, but either one will cool your truck just fine, LSx and LTx fans would work well too. as was mentioned earlier, with the high startup load of the markviii/taurus fans you'll need to design the wiring setup carefully, because the relays for the setup would need to be able to stay reliable with that kind of draw. this may be a good reason to consider the dual fan setups (lsx/ltx), they have less draw so that wouldn't be as much of an issue.
