With your truck being a 97 and the Z71 rear end a 94, does anything need to be changed? Or is it just bolt and go?

Direct bolt on. Had to stretch the brake lines a little because the 4wd rearend is wider, but that's nothing to do with the year. I heard someone say the 94 pinion bearing is a different size, I'm not sure on that, but if I buy parts for the rearend I just tell them it's a 94.

That's what I do with mine being out of a 97

Good info here. From another thread.

1. Yes 2WD rearends are about 3" shorter

2. 2500LD 4x4 is the exact same as a F44 1500 4x4, just early years had 2500 on doors

3. F44 was never avaible in a 2wd, all 1/2tons 2wd's had 10 bolts, to get a 2wd length 14-bolt you had to get a 2500LD 2WD (excluding 454SS)

4. A lift spindle for a 2WD, INCREASES TRACK WIDTH, no way around this.

5. A Z71 rear is the exact same as a 4x4 rear.
